Official music video for '100 Other Lovers' by Denver band DeVotchka, for their new album release '100 Lovers.'

This was a brilliant piece to work on, as the music of DeVotchKa is incredibly inspirational. I wanted the design and technique of the video to reflect the quirky style of the music, with an eclectic mix of influences. Overall the styling has an Eastern European feel, I wanted the piece to hint at a foreign location, as well as drawing you in, with the faded grandeur of the ornate birdcages creating a dark, yet magical atmosphere. The bright mixed media birds add an upbeat vibe and energy to the dream-like ambience, and allude to the notion of romance, particularly the paper scrap birds, whose old-fashioned designs look as if they have been torn straight from a love letter. Despite these cheerful, romanticised visuals, the film hints at the bittersweet nature of love, which prevails throughout the music.
